BARRISTER PASSES
MR. W. A. IZARD ENTHUSIASTIC SPORTSMAN. The death occurred in a Wanganui private hospital on Saturday 01 Mr. William Arthur Izard, barrister and solicitor, at the age ol 6U years. Mr. Izard, who was senior partner in the legal firm of Marshall, Izard and Wilson, had been an inmate of the hospital from early in the New Year. Mr. Izard graduated Ll.B. from Canterbury College and was in practice in Wanganui for more than 30 years. He was born in Christchurch and was educated at Christ’s College and later at Wellington College. In 1905 he married Miss £< oil Montgomery, of Makirikiri, and is survived by Mrs. Izard and a son and three daughters. The son, Mr. Nowell Izard, was recently admitted as a partner in the firm of Marshall, Izard and Wilson. The daughters are Mrs. D. W. Earle and Misses Suzanne and Grace Izard. Mr. Izard, who took a keen interest in the cultural life of the city, was actively interested in sport, rle was president of the Wanganui Acclimatisation Society since the retirement of Mr. H. J. Duigan, and was a great worker in advancing the society's ideals. He was a member of the Sarjeant Gallery Advisory Committee. Mr Izard took a keen interest, too, in the Wanganui Lawn Tennis Ciub, of which he was vice-president, and was a member of the executive of the Automobile Association (Wanganui).
Mr. Izard was initiated in 1906 into Lodge Tongariro, and later joined St. Andrew Kilwinning, of which he was a member when, in 1920, he became a foundation member of Lodge Whanganui. He was a Past Master of Lodge Whcnganui.
