OHAKUNE BOROUGH COUNCIL

RESERVE INSPECTOR’S REPORT During the past month I have made ■my usual visits to the various reserves. As far as damage or vandalism is concerned nothing whatever has come under my notice. I am very pleased as regards this as compared with a few years ago. The two men who are repairing fences at the cemetery reserve have almost finished and have made a firstclass job of same. They are at preent repairing a fence at the back of cemetery. Two other men are cutting silver pine and totara posts, also house blocks, around the lake and are making real good headway with their work. The work in Christie Park is highly | satisfactory and almost completed. Good work has been done at the football ground. Ohakune Junction. The fence on each side of the playing area has been completed with new posts and top rail. At present the men are connecting these fences with a similar fence at the northern end. When completed three sides of this ground will be finished. The floor under the grandstand has been filled up to the top of floor plate and a really good job has been completed. The posts at the foot of the stairs have been renewed. Last week, in company with the town clerk,’ we visited this ground and he was very pleased with the work carried out. In Jubilee Park, work has progressed satisfactorily and clearing of dead trees almost completed. About half a dozen trees at Burns Street end and other small trees at the back of Mr. Delamar’s house had to be passed by at the time on account of the wet nature of the swamp. Grass and rubbish has been cleared up and three seats erected between the memorial gates and bridge to the bowling green. Also the triangle in front of King’s Court, Ohakune Junction has been mowed and cleaned up.
