dr. McMillan in error. SOCIAL SECURITY PAYMENTS I Per Press Association.J NEW PLYMOUTH, Oct. 9. The inaccuracy of his statement from Oamaru. where he said that clause 10 of part 2 of the Social Security Act exempted pensioners from the payment of the social security contribution of a shilling in the pound on income, was admitted by Dr. D. G. McMillan in a telegram to Mr. S. G. Smith to-night. The telegram stated:
"I have discovered that the benefit exemption does not come in section 10, but is made under section 111.” “The latter part of .the statement is not correct,” said Mr. Smith in a comment. “No exemption is made In the Act, and the only exemption is that promised by the Prime Minister at New Plymouth on Friday.” \
