DEATHS OF TWO BOYS
ADMINISTRATION OF DRUG AUSTRALIAN CASE AROUSES INTEREST Received May 11, 10.35 p.m. SYDNEY, May 11. Considerable public interest is being taken in the tragic deaths at Burwood of Edward Cobban, aged 15, and his brother, James Cobban, 13, after a drug had been given them preparatory to an operation to remove their tonsils. Detectives ascertained that paraldehyde was administered by a nurse but no anaesthetic, after which the boys became unconscious and died during the night despite untiring efforts to save them. An analysis of the drug has been ordered.
