HITHER AND THITHER

Euchre and Dance. A euchre and dance will be held ii the Westmere School Hall on Satui day, April 23, at 8 p.m. Good prize are promised for the Monte Carb dances; also a good supper.

Putiki Dance. The Maori returned soldiers are holding their annual dance at Tuhirangi Hall, Putiki, to-night. Patrons are assured of an enjoyable evening. Proceeds to defray expenses. Maori memorial on Anzac Day.

Easter Cabaret. Townsfolk and visitors to the city will have the opportunity of an enjoyable evening’s dancing at a special cabaret night to be heid in the Elrick on Easter Saturday, when an excellent orchestra will play the music for dancing.

Congratulations. Mrs W. G. Bassett, St. John’s Hill, recently celebrated her 88th birthday, when she was the recipient of many telegrams and messages oi congratulation, and gifts of bouquets. Throughout the day friends called to add their good wishes. Mrs Bassett enjoys good health and still takes a keen interest. in everyday affairs and the topics of the clay.

I Wanganui’s Easter Ball. An outstanding social event, oi Easter will be the Wanganui Collegiate School Old Boys' and Woodfora House Old Girls’ Associations’ combined ball to be held in the Big School on Monday, April 18, at 8.3 u pm. This is one ot the most eagerlyawaited events of the year by old boys of the school and their friends, and added interest is given to the ball by the combined forces of the Woodford House Old Girls’ Association and Old Boys’ Association. The committees are busily engaged and no effort is being spared to make the function a complete success and one worthy oi the occasion which it is celebrating. The best orchestra on the West Coast, I Hooker’s Swing Band, of Taranaki I has been engaged to play the dance music.
