ORANGES FOR EASTER

SHORTAGE OF SUPPLIES

[ Per Pr«i« Aseociatian. ] AUCKLAND, April 12,

Because a berth was not allotted today to the Port Line steamer Port Hunter, which arrived in the morning from Antwerp by way of Kingston, Wellington, and the South Island, will be practically without supplies of oranges over the Easter period. The vessel has 6000 cases of Jamaican oranges on board and these would have served to relieve the shortage now eixsting in the south, particularly in Wellington. Strong crticism of the fact that the vessel had not been given berthing facilities was made by members of the wholesale fruit trade. About half of the oranges were for Wellington, while the rest are to be shared between Auckland and the South Island.
