COMPENSATION TO BE PAID
DEPENDENT OF KOPUAWHARA
[ Per Press Association. J
CHRISTCHURCH, April 12.
Cabinet decided that compensation will be paid to the dependents of the 19 victims of the Kopuawhara Camp disaster of February 19. "Although the disaster was caused by an act of God, Cabinet has agreed with the principle that the men lost their lives while in the execution of their duty,” the Minister of Public Works. Hon. R. Semple, said to-day when questioned by The Press. That principle having been established, full information was now being obtained by the Public Works Department as to the dependents of the men and the compensation would be worked out when that data was obtained.
