TAIHAPE DEFEAT MARTON
The inter-school cricket match betwen the Taihape and Marton District, High Schools resulted in a victory fori Taihape by 74 runs. The match wasi played at Taihape. The home team; batted first and made 124 runs, Smith , 37, Barclay 26, Bader 19, being the 1 chief run-getters. Marton replied I with 62 runs, McLeod 37, being the ■ only batsman to make a stand. I Taihape’;; second innings yielded 61 i runs, King ’23 and Smith 19, being the I only batsmen to reach double figures.: Marton were dismissed for 49 in their, second innings, Pearce 19, being the| chief scorer.
