EASTER MATCHES PIRATES’ TOURNAMENT TEAMS FOR SATURDAY A galaxy of Rugby talent will be seen in action on Saturday in the annual quadrangular Rugby tournament between the Wanganui, Napier and Wellington Pirates and Kia Toa (Palmerston North). Included in the Kia Toa team are 13 Manawatu representative players, 13 Manawatu representative players, was given the palm as the best forward in the All Black team which played against the Springboks last year. Apart from McKenzie’s qualities as a Rugby player, he has proved himself a wonderful leader. Much interest will centre around J. Thomas, who will be remembered as one of Waverley’s finest players. Three prominent players of the Napier Pirates team are R. Keable, H. Fraser and S. McKenzie, who represented Hawke's Bay in all representative matches last year. These form the nucleus of a very solid team. This team, who were runners-up in last year’s tournament, can be assured of giving a good account of themselves, as they are very fit and keen to avenge their defeat by the Kia Toa team, winners of the tournament at Napier last year.
