WANGANUI CENTRE SATURDAY’S GAMES DETAILS OF RESULTS Wanganui* bowlers were again fortunate in having splendid weather conditions on Saturday despite an unfavourable forecast. The Shield games being now completed the various clubs continued their usual club games. The Centre Champion of Champion Singles games will be played on the Wanganui Club’s green on Thursday and the Gordon Pairs finalisation games on St. John’s green on Saturday, transferring to the Wanganui green after the first two rounds. ST. JOHN’S CLUB There was an excellent attendance of members at St. John’s greens on Saturday when the following games were played:— Final Round of Full Rinks. Sanders, Chesswas, W. D. Gordon and Glover 17. (After a tie on the last head). This was Glover’s first defeat and the same pars will meet in the final. The president and secretary of the R.S.A., Messrs. Cannan and Seddon, visited the green at the afternoon adjournment and presented a framed group of photos taken during the recent R.S.A. tournament, asking Mr. Bassett to accept it as a slight recognition of the “Diggers’ ” appreciation. Mr. Bassett repeated that his club were only too pleased to have assisted in such a successful function and called for cheers for the R.S.A. for their thoughtfulness in presenting the photos, which would be hung in Ihe pavilion. WANGANUI CLUB Saturday afternoon saw the final of the Wanganui Golf Club’s singles championship played between Steel and Bond. Bond was slow to strike form and at the tenth head the score was 15—2 in favour of Steel. Bond scored on the next four heads and at the 14th head had notched 7 but from there onwards Steel held the upper hand and was an easy winner 24—8. At the conclusion of play the president, Mr. A. Crawford, called for cheers for the new champion and for the runner-up. The semi-finals of the rink championship were played with the result that the rinks skipped by Allomes and Tilley will play the final nert Saturday.

Wanganui started off well and at the third head lean 7 —l. They continued to holt) the advantage and with the aid of a 5 and 4 they led 19—31 at the tea adjournment. The tea put new life into their opponents and going down for the last head and the score was 22—19 in favour of Wanganui. Victoria notched two and, despite their having scored on j 3 heads against their opponents’ 8, were defeated by the narrow margin of one point. Scores:—Glengarry, Beadle, Hayward, A. D. WANGANUI EAST CLUB A further round in the Wanganui East Bowling Club’s full rinks competition was played on Saturday afternoon, with the following results, Atkinson, Ansley,' Purnell, Holloway 25, v. Tate, Gray, Barrowman, Rush 21. Benge, Clark, Woods, Carveil 26, v. Simmonds, Jenkins, Bamford, Slewart 23. Lints, Bain. Muir, Bowling 28, v. Dann, Dann, Gillespie, Raine 27. Rowe, Simpson, Penn, Fletcher 23 v. H. Taylor, Colman, Tippins, Hutchens 16. Begbie, Willis, Boss, Burns 25, v. Beauchamp, Ellis. McKessar Gaunt 12. Gordon Pairs McCracken, Backett (one lite) 22, v. Ross, Haworth (2 lives) 19. Ross, Haworth (1 life) 18, v. Pintridge (Bamford sub.), Tippins (1 life) 12.
