ROWING

WANGANUI ASSOCIATION HE A D-OF-THE-RIV ER TITLES ANNUAL RACES TO-DAY The annual Head-of-the-River eight-oar races will be held on the Wanganui River this afternoon over the championship course finishing at Calver’s Corner. The senior race is to be rowed at 3.30 p.m. and the junior race at 4 p.m. The senior race will be rowed over a two-mile course and junior event over a distance of one and a-half miles. Union and Aramoho will row for the honours in the senior event, while all three clubs will be represented in the junior race. Judging on their performance at Wellington and their easy win over a mile course in the Jury Cup regatta last week, the Union eight which, with one exception, won the championship at Akaroa last year, can be regarded as the winners of the title. In the junior event, competition is likely to be keener and on training performances it looks like a hard tussle between Wanganui and Union. The crews are as follow: 1 nion Bout Club Senior Eight.—R.
