WIFE’S HUGE INCOME

HUSBAND CLAIMS SHARE. LONDON, Feb. 1. The Commoner, Cunningham Reid, sued his wife, who is co-heiress with her sister, Lady Louis Mountbatten, to the £6,000,000 estate of Sir Ernest Cassel, and whose income is said to amount to between £70,000 and £90,000 a year, for a share of her income. The case was settled out of Court. It is understood that he was given an income of £lO,OOO. Proceedings for divorce were also instituted by both sides. The Daily Telegraph’s special correspondent understands that they will probably abandon their divorce petitions “as an indication of goodwill and of a genuine desire for the discontinuance of litigation.” Nevertheless the Chancery Court settlement does not foreshadow a reconciliation.
