SHIPBUILDING RETURNS
LAST YEAR’S NEW TONNAGE BRITAIN’S SHARE LESS LONDON, Feb. 1. Lloyd’s summary of shipbuilding for 1937 shows that the new tonnage representing 1101 vessels totalled 2,690,000, an increase of 572,656 tons compared with. 1936. The British share of the total new tonnage, however, was only 34.2 per cent., “compared with 40.4 in the previous year.
