NORTH ISLAND MEETING TITLE TO E. FARLEY, WANGANUI WANGANUI WINS TEAMS' MATCH The North Island rifle shooting championship was fired on the Putiki Range yesterday, the winner of the championship title being E. Farley (Wanganui), who won in a shoot-off between five, competitors, each of whom scored J9O. Wanganui No. 2 team won the North Island champion teams match with an aggregate score of 563. Wanganui No. J. was runnerup, one solitary joint behind. The service match was won by R. H. King (Opaki), with a score of 51. The Taranaki match went to M. Jones (Wanganui), the Wanganui match to D. Roots (Patea), the Hawke’s Bay match to F. Whitehead (Cheltenham), the Wellington match to M. Jones (Wanganui), the Putiki aggregate to D. Roots (Patea) and the optional aggregate to F. J. Soler (VVanganui).

The weather was bright and sunny, but there was a tricky wind at times. There were 98 competitors from all parts of the North Island. The range officer was Lieutenant J. Wootton, while Captain S. M. Dixon, assisted by Mr. F. Glenny and Mr. F. Smith, were in charge of the clerical arrangements. A welcome was extended to the competitors prior to the opening by the president, Mr. H. Hughes. He expressed appreciation of the excellent support that had been acorded the fixture, and mentioned that the prize money had been increased by £3O compared with last year.
