CHRISTMAS TOURNEY YESTERDAY'S RESULTS Yesterday, under warm weather conditions, the Wanganui Bowling Centre's Christmas tournament was commenced. Thirty-four rinks, divid-' ed into three sections, are taking part. Visitors from Hawera, Foxton, and Hawera Park are participating. The Wanganui and St. John’s greens are being used for the tourney. After the usual inspection of bowls, Mr. A. Crawford, president of the Centre, welcomed the players at the Wanganui green, while Mr. A. W. Jones acted in a like capacity at St. John’s. Engebretsen, of the Wanganui Club, had a rink in the tourney but was called away from town last week, and Stone, the No. 3, took his place. Owing to indisposition O'Meara was unable to play yesterday. J. D. Anderson, the No. 3 of the team, took his place for the day. In the Benefield—McKay game in Section C, McKay was three up on the board when the last head was started,' but Benefield managed to secure four which gave him victory by one point. In the second round of B Section, when Beswick played Corby, the former was four down on the board when the last head was started. By I perfect drawing Beswick and his team secured a full hand, giving him victory by one point. In the second round in Section A a phenomenal score was put up in the Healey—Hutchins game. During the course of play Healey secured a 7, two fours and three threes, while Hutchins obtained 6,5, two fours and a three. Healey won by one point—3l to 30.
