POSSIBLE REVOLT

CANADIAN PROVINCES , LARGER SHARE OF DOMINION REVENUES WANTED “CARRYING OF BURDENS OF WEST" Received Dec. 17, 5.5 p.m. MONTREAL, Dec. 16. A threatened revolt by Quebec and Ontario against the Dominion Government was voiced by the Premier of Quebec, Mr L. Duplessis, in drawing attention to the demands of British Columbia and the prairie provinces before a Royal Commision for a larger share of the Dominion revenues. “The older provinces," he said, are tired of carrying the burdens of the West and will not be run by Ottawa for the benefit of the West." The Dominion’s refusal to assume the entire responsibility for unemployment relief is the underlying basis of friction. Mr M. F. Hepburn, Premier of Ontario, challenged the Government on its refusal to permit the export of Ontario electric power to Lhe United States, presaging an appeal to the Privy Council. A petition by 10,000 farmers of British Columbia requests the Government to urge Dominion legislation prohibiting Japanese owning or renting land and lays the charge that Oriental monopoly of the produce industry has been gained by means of peaceful penetration.
