MORE PEOPLE WOUNDED JERUSALEM, Oct. 26. A Jewish lorry-driver was shot dead and an escorting Arab constable was seriously wounded when a convoy of the Palestine Potash Company was travelling to Jerusalem from the Dead Sea. The convoy was ambushed near the Inn of the Good Samaritan, halfway from Jericho. The firing continued even after the arrivaLof the police and air force. Two Jewish constables on duty in the Jewish quarter at Jerusalem were fired on from an overlooking roof. One was wounded. A bomb exploded near the synagogue in the aid city. One Jewish constable was wounded. After an exhaustive search Hamdi Effendi Husseini, a member of the Grand Mufti’s family, was arrested. He was former head of the AntiImperialistic League. Shots fired at a passing car occupied by Arabs wounded one of the children who were leaving the high school on the Plain of Esdraelon. FIRED BY ARABS BALFOUR PINE FOREST Received Oct. 28, 9.50 p.m. JERUSALEM, Oct. 28. A fire attributed to Arab terrorists is sweeping the Balfour pine forest on the Nazareth hills, named after the statesman. The flames are rapidly spreading among a million trees. Fire brigades, police and Jewish settlers have been called out to assist in fighting the outbreak. EXTINGUISHED AFTER HEAVY LOSS • Received Oct. 28, 10.35 p.m. JERUSALEM, Oct. 28. The fire in Balfour forest was extinguished after three hours. Many thousand of trees were destroyed.
