SHAREBROKING FIRM

INJUNCTION SECURED. MELBOURNE, June 9. Mr. Robert Gall, solicitor, submitted an affidavit in the Practice Court today stating that he had been informed by Messrs. W. C. Ward, A. K. Ward and R. C. Curwen, trading as Ward and Company, sharebrokers that they were in debt £50,000 in excess of ttielr assets. Mr. Gall added that he believed the deficiency was much greater. Mr. Justice McFarland granted Mr. Gall’s application for an interim injunction restraining Ward and Company from parting with certain share certificates and transfers for eight days. The committee of the Melbourne Stock Exchange announced that William Cooper Ward, A. Keith Ward and Roy C. Curwen had ceased to be members of the Stock Exchange and that the affairs of Ward and Company, sharebrokers, were being investigated. The amount involved in the collapse of that firm was not yet known.
