HOLLYWOOD MYSTERY
MAY SOON BE SOLVED MURDER OF FILM DIRECTOR. LOS ANGELES, June 9. The police have announced that they are planning several arrests for the murder in 1922 of William Taylor, cinema director. The new evidence, virtually solving the case, includes an unfired bullet identical with the fatal bullet. One of the unnamed suspectw was not mentioned in the previous case. The William Desmond Taylor mystery has long puzzled the cinema colony. Two once-famous film stars, Mary Miles Minter and the late Mabel Normand, were mentioned in investigations, both women being on friendly terms with the murdered director. On the evening of the murder, Mabel Normand visited his apartments to borrow a book, Taylor’s body being found subsequently. Miss Normand was later absolved from any blame. As a result of the scandal, Mary Miles Minter, who was reputed to be in love with Taylor, retired from the screen. Since then, however, she has spared no effort in clearing her name.
