BRITAIN AND JAPAN
CHINESE NEWSPAPER APPEAL Received May 30, 7.30 p.m. LONDON, May 29. The Hongkong correspondent of the Times says that several Hongkong Chinese newspapers publish an iden tical leader appealing to Britain not to enter into negotiations with Japan. It is asserted that an Anglo-oapanese rapprochement would damage SinoBritlsh amity, bring Britain into conflict with Russia, estrange Empire sentiment and affect Britain’s security and trade. China, the article says, will maintain her sovereignty at all costs.
