With the usual first-class music and supper, patrons are assured of an excellent night’s dancing. surface. The Atene road has been repaired and improved for the seasonal traffic. Mangamahu Riding.—Metal repairs have been effected on all roads in the vicinity of Mangamahu. The Wangaehu Valley Road has been surfaced with grit at the Aranui bluff. Excavation work has been commenced in connection with the construction of a concrete culvert at the Kokomiko Stream. The unmetalled portion of the Makirikiri Valley Road has been repaired and is now open for summer traffic. Purua Riding.—The under slip on the No. 50 highway at Reid’s Hill has been repaired. Tenders will be invited to be received next month for the bituminous sealing of one mile of this Highway. Proposals have been submitted to the Highways Board for the reconstruction of a further mile with the request that a small sum be placed on the current year's estimates in anticipation of the balance being made available in the next financial year. This would provide for the reconstruction work being carried out
under favourable weather conditions and allow for consolidation during the winter months after which the bituminous seal could be applied early in the summer. Metal repairs have been made on the Matarawa . Valley Road
and the balance of metal required or Dickenson’s Road will be supplied a’ an early date. Necessary repairs have been made to the footpaths in Fordell Township.
Kaitoke Riding. Metal repairs have been made on the Airport Road, also Lynches Lane, Ngatarua anc Holmwood Roads. Kaukatea Riding.—Metal repaii
work has been carried out on the Waikoupa, No. 3 Line, Long Acre,
Gordon Park and Thompson’s Roads Surface stumps and roots have beer removed from the Gordon Park Roa< which entailed a considerable amoun' of work. Further surface repairs an required on the Long Acre Roa< which work will be done at. once.
Morikau Riding.—Repairs have been made on the Morikau Road for seasonal cartage and similar work is being done on the Otaranoho Road.
