REGENT THEATRE

“FORGOTIEN faces.” Intensely dramatic entertainment, characterised by some of the finest acting seen for some time, is presented in “Forgotten Faces," the main attraction on the programme now at the Regent Theatre. The polished English actor, Herbert Marshall, who will be remembered for his excellent performances in “The Dark Angel” and more recently in the Secret Service film, "Till We Meet Again," has the leading role, and it is seldom that he has been given wider opportunities for the exercise of his outstanding dramatic ability. As Harry Ashton, a gambling-house proprietor, who believes that all his luck depends on his favourite flower and scent, heliotrope, he suddenly finds his happiness ruined by his beautiful wife’s unfortunate love affair with another man. In a frenzy of passion he kills his wile’s lover and places his baby daughter in the care of some friends. Sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, Ashton still nurtures his bitter hatred against his wife. He is paroled and his campaign of revenge continues, ending dramatically with his wife’s suicide and his own violent death. With her death, however, his daugh* ter’s happiness, which he has striven for all along, remains complete.
