A Donation. Mr G. F. Moore, Bushy Park, has kindly sent to the Country Queen Committee a cheque for £5. The committee very much appreciate the kindly thought. Tawhero Golf Club. This evening, in McGruer’s Hall, a social and dance is being held by the rawhero Golf Club, to which all are invited. A good floor, good music and supper are promised. Garden Party. By permission of Mr and Mrs W. J. Treadwell, the St. John's Hill Combined Sunday School will hold a garfen party in the grounds of their home. Parsons Street, on Saturday next, November 28. Among the various entertainments will be a balloonllying competition. Admission is free. Afternoon tea obtainable. Surprise Party. On Saturday evening a surprise Tarty of about thirty friends was taken to the home of Mr and Mrs I’. L. Sperling, as a welcome home to Mrs Sperring, who has been spending i holiday in Sydney, also to welcome Miss E. Moore on her return from a trip to England. Musical items added to the enjoyment of the evening. Art Exhibition. Some of the attractive work of pupils of Miss Hewetson will be shown o-day and to-morrow afternoon and evenings at her home 15 Gloucester Street. The exhibition is of copper, pewter and brass work and includes some beautiful mirrors, grandfather clock, fire screens and fenders—some with side boxes, bellows, sets for dressing tables. Pewter articles are attractively enamelled, and ruskins play their part, in the many lovely designs. Joynight Dance. The Wanganui Football Association ntend holding a joynight dance in the Peter Pan Hall, Saturday next, November 28. There will be eighteen Monte Carlo prizes. The music is to be supplied by the Soprani Serenades. Altogether a good night's entertainment is assured. South African Wedding. A wedding having New Zealand interest took place at Capetown on Jctober 5. The bride was Mary Veronica, youngest daughter of the late W. C. Macdonald, of Salisbury, Rhodesia, and of Mrs F. J. Moore, of Turgess Hill, Sussex. She is niece of Mr A. K. Scobie Mackenzie and Dr. W. Marshall Macdonald, of Wellington, .ind a great niece of the late Sir •Tancis Dillon Bell. The marriage ook place from the house of her sister, Mrs D. S. Blades. The bridegroom was Richard Cyril Neale, third son of the late Sydney R. Shutte, and' )f Mrs Shutte, of Kirkwood, Eastern Province, South Africa. The future home of the young couple will in South Africa. The bride’s mother is the well-known authoress, Sheila Macdonald.
