BOY’S STRANGE SUICIDE

LAID PAPER TO FALL ON LEFT REMARKABLE WILL Received Nov. 6, 6 p.m. NEW YORK, Nov. 5. A Berkeley (California) message says that Eugene Kauffman, aged 14. who was an excellent student, committed suicide with a shotgun after spreading a newspaper on which to fall. He left a remarkable will which said: “I leave everything I possess to my mother. I hope she will forgive me. We all have to die some time. If I had lived I would have been more worry to my family than dying. I will try and land on the newspaper and prevent a mess. After a burst of wailing for yours truly somebody had better return the book to the Asciano Public Library or be charged the fine.”
