THE JOSEPH CONRAD
ARRIVAL AT NEW YORK Received Oct. 18, 7.5 p.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 17. The four-master Joseph Conrad arrived for a fortnight’s stay on the last ieg of her two-year round-the-world cruise after a Pacific voyage following a course where no square-rigger has sailed since the treasure-laden Spanish galleons Callao-bound from Manila lumbered leisurely centuries ago. After leaving Melbourne and Auckland the Joseph Conrad sailed northward on a fruitless gold quest in the Louisiades, thence across the Coral Sea to Tahiti and round Cape Horn to New York.
