TIMBER FIRES
LOSSES IN CALIFORNIA Received Oct. 18, 7.5 p.m. SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 17. A series of timber fires raged dangerously close to the San Francisco forest areas, destroying thousands of acres and causing the evacuation of Soulsbyville and Standard City, on the outskirts of Winona. Other outbreaks occurred at Toulumne, Bolinas and in the Sierra National Forest. Several persons are missing.
