WHALE SPECIES
AMERICAN PROTECTION Received Oct. 18. 7.29 p.m. WASHINGTON,Oct. 17 Under a new set of Department of Commerce regulations under the Geneva Treaty, 1931. American seamen are forbidden to slaughter 14 types of whales threatened with extinction. Eskimos in their own boats are exempted because whale blubber is their favourite food. The regulations will have little effect on American seamen who catch only 2 per cent of the world's supply.
