LAWN TENNIS
ST. JOHN’S CLUB
Tennis activities were definitely interfered with on Saturday owing to heavy rain, but Sunday proved more favourable, and those present appar- [ ently enjoyed themselves. Wind, al- [ though unpleasant, affords good praci tice as one must definitely "watch the ball." j Some of those playing over the , week-end were:—Misses V. and M. , | Clark, P. Hair, I. and O. Glover, D. , J Kjoss, E. Delves, Mrs. Evans, Messrs. ,; A. N. Campbell, D. Evans, Rountree, ; White, Hosken, M. Watson, G. Beadle, ’ L. Smaller, E. Dunn. ’ Arrangements are well in hand for , the usual tournament which takes place on Labour Day. This will be quite as popular as usual, and play- ' I ers who are considering entering can 1 be assured of some good tennis. ! St. John’s has this season amongst i new members several young players who show considerable promise. With correct instruction and plenty of ' practice they will probably provide j Wanganui with some of its future A 1 grade players. -
