MANAWATU CLUB

MEETING ON LABOUR DAY. Owners and trainers are reminded that nominations for the Labour Day 1 meeting to be held by the Manawatu Trotting Club, close with the secretary, Mr. A. H. Manson, Box 412, Palmerston North, on Monday, October 12, at 8 p.m., the closing date having been changed from October 9 to meet ■ the convenience of owners and train- | ers. | The Manawatu meeting will be followed five days after by the Wellington Trotting Club’s New Zealand Cup trial meeting which will probably be an inducement for owners from a distance assisting at both meetings. The club provides free stabling and i yards for competing horses on the I Manawatu A. and P. Association showgrounds, and all trains will be met by the club's carrier, all gear being carted from the rail to the showgrounds free of charge. The Manawatu Club is fortunate that it has been presented with a silj ver tea and coffee service valued at ' £25, to go to the owner of the win- | ner of the next Trotting Cup, to be run in April next. At the meeting | of the committee of the club held re- | cently £l5 was donated to the Manal watu A. and P. Association to suppleI ment the prize money for the trotting events at the next Spring show. The club's training track is now in first-class order. After the Labour Day meeting is over it is intended to extend the size of the track in order to make two of the present bends more easy.
