RUGBY SUB-UNION. i At the meeting of the Management . Committee of the Ruapehu Sub union, Air. L. V. Carmine was in the chair and there was a full attendance of members. The Ohura Sub-union offered to subsidise to the extent of £8 the takings for a visit from the Ruapehu reps., repayable at a later date. It was decided to hold over the request for consideration at a later date. It was resolved that the Taumarunui Sub-union be written to offering to. make the rep. junior game a matca for the Boles Cup if the senior game at Taumarunui on the same day be a match for the Alain Trunk Cup. An invitation was received to the seven-a-side tournament at Taumaranui on the King's Birthday. The Rangataua Club forwarded a list of players. A protest was received from the Karioi Club in regard to the Forestry Club playing a man who had been playing this season for the Karioi Club. It was resolved that the matter be deferred until particulars are obtained from the Forestry Club and that they be supplied with a copy of the protest. The Athletic Club wrote at length explaining the withdrawal of their senior team from the competition. The withdrawal was accepted and the line of £1 Is was remitted. It was agreed that any of the senior members of the Athletic Club should be allowed to play for any other senior team immediately. Air. S. Moor advised that he had ordered off Sullivan, of the Athletic Club, for continual “chipping.’’ It was resolved that he be cautioned. The arranging of matches for June 27 was left in the hands of the president, vice-president and the secretary. SCHOOL COMMITTEE. At the monthly meeting of the School Committee there were present Messrs. J. France, Woodward, Proffitt, Thomas, Lambert, the secretary (Al. C. Goulder) and the headmaster (Air. T. A. Bly th). The Defence Department forwarded a letter of thanks for the use of the assembly hall for drill purposes. Aliss N. A. Callaghcr advised that she had received an appointment with the Taranaki Board and had resigned from the staff of the school. It was decided to procure a letterbox and a fire-screen for the school. The chairman said he was sorry to have to report that the dance held in aid of school funds was not so successful as usual, although the financial result was quite satisfactory. The members of the committee did not show sufficient interest in the function. The headmaster reported that the school banking system was not proving * too satisfactory and it had been sug- . gested that the children should bank at the Post Office. The sum of £7 19s was available for procuring library books and it was decided to apply for a subsidy of £3 from the Education Board. It was decided to purchase a dozen boxes of chalk from a Wanganui firm owing to the high price charged by the local suppliers. GENERAL. The Borough. Council donated £5 to the Waimarino Brass Band at its last meeting. As the result of a fall, Air. AV. Ratcliffe, of the Argonaut Hotel, Ohakune Junction, had the misfortune to break his leg. I The Borough Council decided to increase the wages of the foreman to £5 per week.
