Alaleolm AlacDonald (Secretary of State for the Dominions) told Air. J. A. Dunean that if the New Zealand Government supported the project and Britain were asked to contribute to the cost, she will caitfully consider the application. Questioned as to Mr. Savage’s statement that the New Zealand Government would be “more than sympathetic” to a scheme of plan.icd immigration, Air. AlacDonald said he was awaiting a full report on the mutter. The Overseas Settlement Board, which was meeting regularly, was examining the subject with a view to laying the plans. He would submit Air. Savage’s statement to the ooard. Air. Hannon; Is this not a matter for the board to take action immediately? Air. Alaxton: Will Mr. AlacDonald bear in mind the previous efforts in this direction and the disastrous results of a levy? Has the board power to institute plans or simply consider proposals? Air. AlacDonald: The board considers proposals on any matter submitted to it by the Secretary of the Dominions.
