CHAMPION PACER INDIANAPOLIS’ CAMPAIGN EXHIBITION AT TIMABU Indianapolis will give an exhibition ■ over one mile at the Tiniaru Trotting Club’s meeting next Saturday. The 1 champion will have the assistance of a galloping pacemaker. Following Timaru, Indianapolis will be seen in action at the Forbury Park Trotting Club's summer meeting, where h-j will endeavour to beat the present track record for a mile of 2-4 2-5, at present held, by Harold Logan. He may take part in the Dunedin Cup, in which Mr. G. J. Barton will probably have other repre.sentati\ec, Tempest and Wrecker. Indianapolis was sent over a mile and a-half at Addington last Thursday morning. He travelled two, and at certain parts was three sulky widths from the inside rail. He covered the first two furlongs in 34 2-5«?, half-mile in 1.8 1-5, six furlongs in 1.42 1-5 mile in. 2.16, mile and a-quartcr in 2.48, and the mile and a-half in 3.22. He is in beautiful order and it is the unanimous opinion of track-watchers at Addington that he is better to-day than when he won the New Zealand Trotting Cup, Clarkson Memorial Handicap and the Free-for-All at Addington i’.i November. Taranaki Nominations. The autumn meeting of the Taranaki Jockey Club is to bo held on February 6 and 8, a week after the Wanganui fixture. arc due next Monday week. Children Not Admitted. The Wellington Racing Club has decided that children under twelve shall not be admitted io the lawn enclosure at the opening meeting. Likely Maiden. Mr. C. E. TwistLueullus Lad, who raced at the .Stratford meeting, created rather a favourable impression. Though badly left in the maiden event tne first day, his only run, he was placed fourth when th-.? first four dashed over the line almOct abreast. More Yearlings. Messrs. W, .mglic and Bon have catalogued 115 more yearlings fur Vaeir coming autumn sales in {Sydney than for last season, the total this time being 637. As usual, Alesris. P. Miller and 11. S. Thompson arc the principal contributors, the former with 93, and the latter 66. Form Encouraging. Shy, who is among the entrants for the Kaitoke High-weight Handicap on the first day ot the Wellington meeting, is owned by Mr. R. \\ . A. Lewis, who formerly raced Billy Boy and Clockwork. He is a four year-old gelding by Valky rian frc-ni Stage Fright, by Limond from the Absurd mare Tivoli. Shy has only started three times this season, and at his second appearance he xvas successful in the Maiden Handicap at Levin, and followed this up with a second to Dorado in the Featherston Handicap at Wairarapa on New Year’c. Dav. Considering the limited experience he has had, Shy’s 1 form has been encouraging, and he may be worth following. Liberal Racing Man. Col. F. R. Bradley, one of America’s best-known breeders and owners, used annually to hold a one day 's race meeting at his Idle Hour Stock Farm fort tiie purpose of giving r l i'.Bnksgivmg and Christmas dinners to orphans and crippled children in Kentucky institutions. Eventually he discontinued the meeting, but since then he. has made a gift of £2(100 annually for the purpose named. Jt would be a good thing if there were Col. Bradleys all over the world. A Big Commission. Mr. J. J. Parkinson, of The Curragh, Ireland, has been operating on a commission from Russia to buy about 200 horses, and up to December 7 had secured 30. Ulster Derby. Following a suggestion made by Lord Derby in .Belfast recently, the Down Royal Corporation of Horse Breeders has decided to hold an Lister Derby. The prize-money will be £lOOO, and the first race will be run at Down Royal on July 18. Lord Derby hac agreed to nominate one of his horses. Bred in N.Z. After running a fourth and two thirds in her previous three races, the New Zealand-bred filly Remittent won the Second Division, of the Juvenile Handicap at Moonee Valley recently in good style. Remittent who is by Siegfried from Allowance, was bred by Mr. Ralph Holden at. the Mana Stud, Hawke’s Bay and was bought as a yearling at the la«t Trentham sales by Mr. AV. R. Kemball for 80 guineas. She is apparently consistent, if nothing else. His Best Season. Last racing season in England was the best Sir Abe Bailey, owner of Tiberius, has had since he registered his colours 40 years ago. He finished second to the Aga Khan in the winning owners’ list. Women owners met with remarkable success. Ko fewer than 122 won. between them nearly 300 races worth about £90,000 in stakes. Miss Dorothy Paget, whose colt by Blenheim out of Bossover was c-ae of the best two-year-olds, was the most successful. The Biggest Owners. Mr. E. E. D. Clarke is the biggest winning owner in Australia for any one racing season with £29,350 to his credit for 1927-1928. That year Trivalve won him the Derbies and Melbourne Cup.
