WANGANUI CLUB ELECTRIC LIGHT MEETING LAST NIGHT’S RESULTS. Favoured by perfect conditions, the second electric light sports meeting cf the Wanganui Amateur Athhatic and Cycling Club at Cook’s Gardens la.-t night was attended by a large crowd of spectators. There were excellent entries in all events and although rhe track was heavy after the rain (.•.' the past few days the times regisL-uid were fast. A feature of the meeti. g was tin* riding of J. Tn the two miles cycle, Lawrenee (Pa’merston North) gave the spectators a ihril; when he suddenly sprinted out of the bunch and htaded off Wade. Tic last lap developed into a tussle between Bidwell and Green, the ’after having the inside of the track. Green won by a wheel. J. Wada (scr.) retired after completing the first lap. Sullivan won by a Dngrh, with Hodson and McCormick fighting for second place down the final straight for the latter to win uy hal: a wheel. Time, 6min. 57 2- Lawrence rode a great race in the final lap to head Green by a length. Tn the tenth lap A. Hansen crashed au<l received extensive abrasions. Half-mile Cycle Handicap.—-First, heat: J. Wade (Wanganui), scr., 1, L. Anderson (Wanganui), 25yds., 2. 'lime, 59 l-ssec Wade came around the outside to win easily by three and a ha if lengths. Second heat: G. Sullivan (Wanganui), 75yds., 1; A. Hrrson (Wanganui), 20yds., 2. Time, 60mc. Sullivan made the most of Irs handicap to win by five lengths with the second and third placed rid close together. Third heat: J. M’Corniick (Wanganui), 65yds.. 1: M. Green (Hawera), 35yds., 2. Time, 57 3-ssce. TTeCormick took the lead early m the last lap and crossed the finishing line four lengths ahead of Green. Final: J. Wade 1, Green 2 1 . L. Anderson 3. Time, 58 2-ssec. Wade rode a great race off scratch and although his chances of catching the limit inen looked remote, he forged to the lead half way down the straight to win by half a wheel. The finish was a stirring one with the whole field together and ar the beginning of the final straight it was anybody’s race. Wade’s time was 2-ssec. inside the New’ Zealand halfmile record. Two-mile A Grade Cycle:—E. Law rence (Palmerston North) 30yd?., 1; J Wade (Wanganui) s-r., 2: H. Archibald (Marton), 90yds., 3. Time, 4min. 36 l-ssee. Wade was lying fifth at the end of the fodrth round and had moved up one place at the completion of the next lap. He was lying third at the beginnisg of the final lap and forged to the lead from the inside of the track. Lawrence suddenly came out nr* the bunch and forged ahead of Wade. He maintained his lead and won by three lengths, Wade making a determined b’it unsuccessful effort to catch him. B Grade Mile -Cycle.—H. Burton (Wui.ganui), 7Cy-l?., I; W.
