OKOIA BRANCH Tin; eighth annual meeting of the i Okoia branch of the W.D.F.U. was i held in the Wanganui Division rooms on Wednesday, April 17, 1935. Those present were Alesdames G. McLeod, S. Strachan, J. Gray, Neilson, J. McGrail, A. AlcLeod, G. Beattie and Alisses L. Neilson and J. McLeod. The minutes of the previous annual meeting were read and confirmed, after which the report and balano - sheet were presented- The president’s annual report reads: — ‘‘Ladies, I wish to present oui eighth annual report. We have ha., a most successful year in spite of the hard times, having had a dance, a flower show and a birthday party, altogether taking £l6 9s. We havedonaicu £2 10s to tne Plunket Society, £1 (id to the Dental Clinic, £1 to the M’anganui branch, £5 to the Community Chest, as well as the usual Chris, mas donations. Two housekeepers have been supplied in the district, but the branch has not been called upon to assist in these cases. Thanks are due to Airs. Neilson, who generously gave a cake, and to Airs. E. B. Rice for the gift of a beauti-fully-worked cushion for competition, which proved a great help to the funds. We wish io thank all those who have so willingly helped with all the functions and to Air. Hirst, who has kindly audited the books. Election of officers was then proceeded with and resulted: President: As no one agreed to nomination, Airs. G. AlcLeod consented to remain in office for the ensuing year. Vice-presidents, Airs. J. Higgie and Mrs. W. Strachan; secretary, Airs. Beattie; delegates, Airs. Gray and the president. The meeting closed with a vote <>* thanks to the chair. Afternoon tea was served
