FURTHER BIG SCORES HAMMOND AND WINLAW GLOUCESTER’S FINE WIN (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON,. July 3. Further heavy scoring was recorded in the latest scries of county cricket matches in England, a feature being the return to batting form of Gloucestershire, who scored 563 runs at the expense of Kent. Most of the runs were supplied by Hammond, who went close to scoring a triple century, and a useful contribution was also made by the ox-Ncw Zealander, Dacre. Though Kent scored 361 runs in their first innings, they were beaten by more than an innings The Leyland benefit match between Nottinghamshire and Yorkshire resulted in a win for Yorkshire on the first innings, Bowes and Verity being the most successful bowlers for the winners There was also solid scoring in the matches in which the Oxford and Cambridge Universities were engaged Hearne and Hendren batted well for M.C.C. against Oxford, and Win law registered a double double with the bat —a century in each innings—for Cambridge University against Glamorgan. Human, who has been performing consistently well for Cambridge as a batsman, took seven Glamorgan wickets. The results were:— Kent, 361 (Woolley 124) and 166 (Parker five for 88, Sinfield four for 43); Gloucestershire, 563 (Dacre 53, Hammond 290). Gloucestershire won by an innings and 36 runs. Derbyshire 310 (Storer 1.13) and 64 for no wickets; Somersetshire, 115 (Worthington four for 16),' and, fob' .'.owing on, 256. Derbyshire won by ten wickets. Northamptonshire, 191 (Paine five; for 74) and 279 (Paine seven for 128); i Warwickshire, 227 and 181 (Partridge i nine for 66). Northamptonshire won I by 59 runs. Nottinghamshire, 246 (Harris 117 not) out; Boyes six for 48), and 229 j (Keeton 58; Verity four for 36); York ; shire, 300 (Mitchell 76) and 71 for one I wicket. Yorkshire won on the first in-1 | nings. I Worcestershire, 200 (Gibbons 96,1 I Herman five for 68) and 225 (Gibbons, I 78); Hampshire, 304 (Mead 125 not; out) and Jl5 (Harrison seven for 51).j Worcestershire won by six runs.
