HITHER AND THITHER
A Playette. A pleasing item at the monthly meeting of the League of Nations, held on Monday evening in St. Paul’s Hall, was the presentation by the newly-formed drama circle of an episode from John Drinkwater’s 1 ‘Abraham Lincoln.’’ 'fhe incident took place at a time two years after the commencement of the Civil War, and was one of the most gripping scenes of 'the play which was presented in its entirety several years ago by the Technical College students. The character part of Mrs. Lincoln was played by Mrs. Clinkard, that of Susan, the Lincoln’s “Old Faithful,” by Miss Newrick. and the roles of Mrs. Goliath Blow and Mrs. Otherly were taken by Miss V. Madeley and Mrs. E. Watkins. Lincoln was played by Mr. A. Ansley, who acted the role in the original presentation, and under whose direction the scene was staged. The froeking of the play was extremely wed] done and was typical of the period. There was a splendid attendance and the address given during the evening by the Rev. J. R. Young was listened to with great interest. All-day Golf Tournament. Another all-day golf tournament* arranged by Mr. Jack Harrison was held at the Maxwell golf links on Tuesday.
