THE CUNARD MERGER
INJUNCTION REFUSED LONDON, May 8. Mr. Justice Eve dismissed the application for an injunction preventing the Cunard merger. Mr. P. A. »S. Franklin, president of the International Mercantile Marine Company, said on March 16 that the company’s attorney had been instructed to seek a Court injunction to restrain the Cunard Company, Oceanic Company, and others from proceeding with tho merger of the Cunard and White Star Lines. Mr. Franklin, who returned that day I on the Majestic from Europe, alleged that the new merger was nothing more or less than a British national line backed by the British Treasury to the extent of £50,000,000. THE LAUNCHING CEREMONY f British Official Wireless. ] BUGBY, May 7. The King and Queen will visit Glasgow at the end of September for the launching of the new giant Cunard liner, No. 534. The Queen will perform the ceremony of launching the vessel. When finished, the Cunarder will be the largest, fastest, and most luxurious vessel afloat. The King and Queen to-day returned to Buckingham Palace from Windsor Castle. They will remain in London until Whitsuntide, when they will visit Sandringham for a few days, then returning to Buckingham Palace for the remainder of the London season.
