The attendance at the band concert given by the Palmerston North Garrison Band on Friday night was very disappointing. The programme presented was much appreciated. Mr. E. J. Bowater returned thanks and said that a local effort would be made in January and the proceeds handed to the band for their contest fund. RATHER XMAS. The party arranged by the Women’s Institute for the children on Saturday evening was a great success. 'Fea was provided, the supper-room at the hall being well filled. Games in the main hall passed away a happy time until the arrival of Father Xmas. A toy pas handed to each of the children present. PROFICIENCY. The four children from the local school who sat for their proficiency were all successful, their names being Margaret Coulter, Joyce Davey, Terence Anderson, Erie Livingston.
