That dog tax fees be fixed for the year 1934 the same as in previous years, except in respect of Alsatian dogs. That the full dog rax of 10s be charged for all Alsatian dogs, regardless of for what purpose they are kept. That permission be granted the manager of the Alajestic Theatre to screen the picture “Secrets” on Christinas night. An item in the town clerk’s monthly report, showing the cost of revising the valuation roll at £l9 10s, was the subject of some discussion. The town clerk explained that the charge was in respect of the whole roll and did not apply to private valuations only, although such valuations increased the cost of revising rhe roll. Cr. Wilshcr did not sec why the council should have to pay for the cost of private revaluations. The fees charged persons obtaining a private revaluations should cover the cost of the revaluation, and the council should not be put to any expense in the matter. Cr. Darvill: It’s hard when the council has to pay for a private revaluation especially when the person obtaining the revaluation pays less in rates, ami the council loses both ways. The position was unfair. The town clerk again pointed out tht the charge did not apply to private revaluations only, although it was affected by same.
