The pupils of St. Patrick’s Convent School spent a very pleasant afternoon at the school grounds on Friday afternoon. when a Christmas tree was provided for them by the sisters. All children received presents and a very exciting time was spent, in opening the various parcels. GENERAL. Keen interest is being maintained in the Christmas Eve carnival project. The matter is receiving a very full public discussion and a really good evening’s fun is assured. A fire which might have done much damage to the' Town Board property at the dam, broke out in the adjacent bush on Saturday afternoon last. Two men working nearby were quickly on the scene. Buckets or tins to carry water were not available, however, and when the board’s truck arrived with these latt<T, one of the fire fighters was throwing mugfuls of water at the other’s back. Apparently a spark had alighted on the back of the victim’s waistcoat, where it burnt a hole of considerable size before being discovered. Working under adverse circumstances certainly leads to some great discoveries, even of the myriad uses of so common a household utensil ns a mug!
