A HUNDRED YEARS OF DANCING
"FOOTLIGHTS AND FANTASIES." Everybody should make a point of seeing the magnificent show to be staged in th© Opera House on Thursday night of this week, by the Wright School of IDancing, "Footlights and Fantasies.’’ Over 3000 mirrors will bo used in one scene and the effect will be striking in the extreme. Another new star. Tiro Durie, is to appear in "Footlights and Fantasies” accompanied by her niece, Jacqulein Pudscy, who is four years old. It is safe to say that no performance that has ever been staged in Wanganui with tiny tots in principal roles will equal "Footlights and Fantasies." The production is to bring within the scope of a few short hours th e change in dance fashions over a period of .100 years, from 1833 to 1933. A flower barge 14ft. long, and commanded by 14 tiny angels, will be featured in one of the never-to-be-forgotten scenes. A mystic touch of the East will be introduced with the portrayal of death and re-birth in the Temple of Buddha. The soloists on the Angels’ Barge, Lola Boshier and Betty Price, will be strikingly beautiful. All the babes taking part n this scene wll be under six years of age. Fifteen "jazz babies" will be turned out in cute costumes of the jazz age. Two items that will certainly make appeal will be the singing of Merle Spurdie and the saxophone playing of Tiro Durie. Frocking, scenery and lighting will surpass anything seen in Wanganui so far. Box plans are open at Emmett ’a.
