CYCLONIC STORM
TELEGRAPH LINES SUFFER. DAMAGE IN ADELAIDE. SYDNEY, Oct. 31. The Telegraph Department reports that the most serious breakdown for years has been caused by a cyclonic storm, which damaged sections of the line of both the east and west railway service and the Telegraph Department in the neighbourhood of the South Australian border. The Eastern Cable Company’s cable between Adelaide and Western Australia is being used to assist to overcome the difficulties until the. telegraphs ar* sufficiently restored, after nearly 40 hours’ strenuous work to overtake the traffic. Reports from Adelaide state that the disturbance, with a spectacular thunderstorm, passed over the city on Saturday night. Though the wind was not nirtre than 32 miles an hour, a house at Torrensville was unroofed by an unusual eddy.
