FLOCK HOUSE FESTIVITIES On Thursday evening an impromptu concert, coupled with a prize-givitg ceromonv in connection with the annual sports held recently, was held in the Assembly Hall at Flock House, and proved a most successful function. Colonel Powles, C.AI.G., D. 5.0., presided. The programme was as follow: Sketch, “ It’s An Old English Custom,” written by J. A. Domney; cornet solo, J. T. Brough; mouth-organ solo, H. W. Pilot; banjo mandolin solo, D. A. Comrie; song, J. H. Walsh; and short sketches entitled “A Ripping Time,”

“An Expensive Aleal,” “Shadowgraph,” “A Shop Scene,” and “Thc Curse of Alcohol.” During the evening considerable latent talent was brought to light, the acting being very good and the various solos were warmly applauded. Impersonations of several members of the staff caused •considerable merriment, and thc audience was at times almost hysterical with laughter. Community singing followed, the various choruses being lustily rendered. Colonel Powles present the trophies won at the sports as follow: Senior championship (stock whip); junior championship. Burch (stockwhip); best trier, senior, Dallingor (pair of spurs); best trier, junior, Nicholson (pair of spurs). Prizes were also awarded to individual winners as follow: Alc.Clymont, Alami, Cross, Hillier, Pilot, Brown, Afacalister, AlcCook, Loe, Nicholson, Domney, Shoarmo, and Williamson. THE PICTURES “Thc Conquering Horde,” a Western picture, will be screened at Bulls Town Hall. Richard Arlen and Fay Wray fill the leading roles in this fast-mov-ing, thrilling drama, and thc interest is maintained throughout. GENERAL NEWS Messrs Ellis Bros., of/‘Killeymoon,” Bulls, secured the reserve •championship of the Wairarapa show this week with a Southdown ram of their own breeding. Interest is being taken in the “shop” to be conducted here on Monday by tho Women’s Division of tho Farmers’ Union, in aid of sufferers by the recent earthquakes in Wairoa. Thc Ohakea Aliniaturo Rifle (Tub will wind up the season on Tuesday evening with a dance ami each re party, and trophies won during the year will bo presented tn the winners. A harriers’ road race from Pulls to Alarton will start here at 2.45 p.m. today. Tho runners will bo despatched from the local post, office, and a largo field is anticipated. Electricity was cut off for an hour yesterday, commejuvina ' »out.

11.45 a.m. 'l'he. trouble was reported to have been caused through a tree, falling across the wires on Bryce’s Lino, and many housewives complained of haltcooked dinners.
