GOLF To-morrow the Wavcrley Golf Club will hold its official dosing day, when some good games should be enjoyed by those taking part in the competitions arranged. There will be a mixed foursomes, commencing at. 1 p.m., followed by the usual apyroaching, putting and driving competitions. Last ’Thursday the ladies held their own day, an all-day programme being arranged. In the morning a flag match was played, some fifteen players taking part. Miss .1. Train, by taking her flag to the ninth green, won the competition and thc trophy presented by Airs Muir. In the afternoon, a match was played over 15 holes between thc captain’s and secretary's teams, the following being thc result, with members of the captain’s team mentioned first: — Airs D. Lupton lost to Aliss AlcMeckin. Airs Handley won from Airs Aiken. Airs Palmer halved with Aliss Train. Airs Johnston won from Airs Pepper. Airs G. Lupton won from Airs Gray. Aliss Lupton lost to Airs Bowden. Aliss AlcGregor lost to Airs Blackiston. Airs Eames lost to Aliss Davis. Aliss P. Graham lost to Aliss Cleary. Aliss Adlam lost to Aliss Lamont. Totals: Captain’s, 3 games; secretary’s, 6 games, 1 game halved. In conjunction with this match, a trophy was given by Airs R. Palmer for the player putting up the best nett score on three-quarter of her handicap. Airs G. Lupton won the trophy with the nett score of 66 for 15 holes. At tho conclusion of the team’s match, approaching and putting competitions were held. Tn the approaching and putting, Aliss J. Train won Aliss Lupton’s trophy. She played a high approach, the ball hitting the pin and dropping into the hole for a one. Aliss Beer won the driving competition, with Aliss P. Graham a close second. Miss Walis won tho putting competition. At the close of thc competitions, afternoon tea was dispensed in the clubhouse, and the trophies presented.
MINIATURE RIFLE SHOOTING On Tuesday the last of three shoots for the Waverley Aliniature Rifle Club’s second trophy was fired. There was a good attendance, with resulting splendid scores. The following are the results of the final shoot: — R. Wilkins, 65; W. Dalrymple, E. and C. Orsman, 64; J. Johnston and F. Hunter, 63; Al. Dickie, 61; A. Williams, G. Spratt, W. P. Wallace, and W. Alexander, 59; L. Duffy, 57; S. Southam, 55; AL Little, 52; B.’Walkinton, 47; A. Hunter, 43. As a result of the three shoots, thc following is the final standing of thc competitors, taking the best two of their three shoots, and handicaps, showed in parentheses:—■
