"ALL ROADS TO ROME"

WANGANUI OR PALMERSTON? AUTOMOBILE ASSOCIATION AN INTERESTING DISCUSSION Information that the road from Himilangi to Palmerston North was being permanently surfaced, and the road from Himitangi to Sanson was not being similarly treated, together with a suggestion that action might be taken in having attention paid to the main north and south, road, was conveyed to last night’s meeting of the Wanganui Automobile Association by letter from the Wanganui and Dis ir’ct Development League. “The attitude of Palmerston North is that all roads lead to Rome,’’ said the chairman, Mr. D. McFarlane. ‘‘Good luck to them,” said Dr* Ltob< rtson. “You should think of the state that the Highways Board is in now, they haven’t the funds,” said Mr. T. Dix. “What about Palmerston North getting the road done to their city?” said th-d chairman. “That would have been granted last year,” said Air. Dix- “Now they havi no money.” A suggestion that action should be taken to see that the road leading to Wanganui was surfaced, not at pres ent when the Highways Board had not the funds, but when they were again able to spend money on the road, was made by Mr. A. 8. Burgess. The meeting decided to write to thd aLtho.’ties asking that the main Wei lingtor. Auckland highway should be surfaced before secondary highways wore attended to.
