NEW ZEALANDERS ABROAD
Dr J. McNaughtan Christie (Wan ganui and Wellington), still an enthusiastic and successful yachtsman, left London for Glasgow to take part in the Royal Northern Y.C. regattas of the Clyde Fortnight. His yacht Llygra won the handicap for under 15 tonners on Saturday and again on Monday. Aliss Alison J. Al. Grant (Wellington) is in Afarcelona, and is hoping to tour in Italy at an early date.
Mr E. Beaglehole, Ph.D., London (Wellington) has been for three years at London I'niversity studying phychology, and in September he will leave for Y'ale University to take up the Commonwealth Fund Fellowship, which was awarded him in May. tenable for two years. In all probability the New Zealander will spend one year of his new fellowship at Yale University. and the second year in travelling about other university centres of the United States. It is announced from Leeds that Aliss Marwick, a Clothworkers’ Fellow of the University of Leeds, has been awarded a travelling scholarship to investigate sheep-breeding and wool-grow ing in New Zealand. She has been carrying on wool research in the textile physics department of the university. Mrs L. A. Wilson (Wellington) is leaving on a motor tour of Ireland. Air and Airs N. H. Nash and the Misses K. and N. Nash (Palmerston North) have arranged a motor tour of England and Scotland. They will visit the Continent later.
Air R. A. Craig 1 (Wellington) and Mr K. Griffiths (Hamilton) have planned a tour of Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and the French Riviera The engagement has been announced recently of Patrick John Borthwick younger son of the Hon. Algernon and Mrs Borthwick, of Woodcote House, Ox fordshire, and Nancy, younger daughter of Air and Airs Guy C. Williams, of Te Parae, Masterton.
