PAPER HAT PARTY
A children s ••paper hat" party was held ou Friday evening in St. Barnaba’s Hall, Durie Hill, in aid of funds for t’ne candidate (June Blue), in the Plunkel baby contest. Over 120 children attended, all wearing paper hats. All manner of head dress was worn, and the scene presented in the hall made a bright and gay picture. So many and varied were the paper hats j worn that the task of judging was not lan easy one. The judges were Mrs T. Hine and Mrs Draffin and they awarded the first prize (over 7 years'), to Tina O‘Halloran, and the class under 7 years was won by June Pansell. After the judging was over dancing and games were indulged in. the music for the dances being played by Miss A vice Fol let and Miss Ngaire Rowe. The ■ duties of chairman wore carried out by Mr Burtt A LONDON ENGAGEMENT A very interesting engagement i-/ that of Lady Alastair Leveson-Gower to Colonel the Baron Osten Driesen, who is a Russia • very popular in Paris and New York. Lady Alastair sister-in-law to the present Duke of Sutherland, has been a widow for 10 years.
