BOISTEROUS WEATHER
STORM ON THE TASMAN. SHIPPING DISORGANISED. SYDNEY, June 17. Blinding rain squalls, driven by strong south-west gales and accompanied by rough seas, hav lashed the New South Wales coast for the last twenty four hours and ‘ disorganised shipping. The Dutch steamer Arendeskerk tried for four hours to enter Sydney heads. Coasters were forced to turn back. The inland rain has, however, been lighter and the flood position on the Murray, Murrumbidgee and Lachlan rivers is now easier. A tragedy occurred near Wagga. George Cann and his son, aged .14, were crossing a paddock still covered to a depth of two feet with flood waters, when they missed their direction and drove the sulky into a lagoon 10 feet deep. Both were drowned.
