Mr J. L. Anderson, of Taihape, .s on a brief visit to this town. Misses N. and M. Durrant and J, and E. Hamill left Taihape on Thursday for -Marton, to attend the Nga Tawi Old Girls’ reunion. TOWN HALL The management of the Town Hall pictures have been fortunate to secure the official fight film of lleeuey-Tiin-ncy. This is the fight in which the Gisborne man challenged for the world’s title how lie fared is well known. Heeney was beaten but at no stage of it was he out-gamed. In some rounds he looked like being a winner but by seeing the film record it is possible to follow every round, blow for blow, with remarkable clear photography. The film is 5,000 feet in length and gives the whole complete fight. Fields and Louise Fazenda in the cast, patrons aro assured of a good lime. The Theatre, is heated, a benefit that patrons will appreciate these cold nights. OHAKUNE VALEDICTORY, There was a large attendance at St. John Hall on Thursday to bid farewell to Mr and Mrs L. G. North, prior to their departure for Aramoho, wcere Mr North has been transferred as pos - master. The function was arranged by the members of the cricket club and tennis club, of which clubs the guests of honour had been energetic members. On behalf of the members of the two clubs, Mr Annison handed Mr aid 31 rs North a handsome case of cutlery, Mr North, in reply, said they Siu predated the many kind remarks and the social evening. He thanked them for the beautiful present. Ohakunc hid the true sporting spirit, and that mi> a town. During the evening items were given by Misses Cranston, Lightband, Clciuett, Messrs Pearce and Blennerhassett. COMBINED CARNIVAL. A most enjoyable euchre party, in aid of the Country Baby, was held at Mrs Clancy’s residence on Monday evening, when about 30 persons were present. The ladies’ prize was won by Mrs Standish, and the gent’s by Mr H. Williams. The scoring was remarkably keen and created much excitement.
