WEALTH EROM WOOL

YESTERDAY’S PAY OUT Yesterday was “good Friday” for many Wanganui wool-growers, for it was the date on which buyers at the recent sale met their obligations in respect to purchases. The sale was worth £220,000 to Wanganui, this estimate being based on a total of 9500 bales at an average of between £23 and £24 a bale. A few lots at the sale were passed in but the majority were sold privately later, and at satisfactory prices. The average price must be considered very satisfactory, especially when compared with the recent average of £2l a bale at Christchurch. The total cheque for the sale will represent a very handsome Christmas present for the Wanganui district.
